PLANNING APPLICATIONS

Planning applications are made to Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council who then have responsibility to ask all interested parties including neighbouring properties and this Council for their views on the development.

This Council is, therefore, a consultee.  The issues the Council IS able to consider include:

  • loss of privacy/impact on residential amenity
  • overshadowing/overbearing impact
  • highway safety, traffic and parking issues
  • noise
  • visual amenity/street scene
  • wildlife
  • historic buildings and conservation
  • flooding
  • design, and materials
  • appearance of the development
  • capacity of infrastructure – schools/public transport etc

Issues the Council is NOT able to consider include:

  • loss of view
  • effect on property values
  • private rights
  • boundary disputes, and
  • construction noise

Planning applications are considered at the next available Town Council meeting and included on the agenda

A list of the latest live planning applications for the parish of Dinnington St John’s submitted to Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council will appear here (last updated 23/04/24). The list will include recent decisions on planning applications as well as new planning applications, and will updated periodically.

To view a planning application simply follow the link below and use the relevant planning application number.

Members of the public can comment on, or object to, a planning application but any objections will only be judged on ‘material’ considerations. Further guidance is here.
